Why the SAST time changes
The draws are always at the same UK time, but the UK uses summer time and South Africa does not. So both draws move by an hour in South Africa twice a year, on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October:
| Period | Daily | Weekly |
|---|---|---|
| Late March to late October (UK summer time) | 20:30 SAST | 15:00 SAST |
| Late October to late March (UK winter time) | 21:30 SAST | 16:00 SAST |
Next changes: from 25 October 2026 the Daily at 21:30 SAST and the Weekly at 16:00 SAST, and from 28 March 2027 the Daily at 20:30 SAST and the Weekly at 15:00 SAST.
Every day, holidays included
The Daily draw is not moved for public holidays: it has been held every single day since 1 November 2014, including Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The Weekly draw has been held every Monday since 25 May 2015; before that it was on Saturdays.
Betting cut-off
South African bookmakers set their own cut-off for UK Free Lottery Daily and Weekly bets, usually shortly before the draw. Always check the closing time on your bet slip.
